Benzoin | CAS 119-53-9; 579-44-2
Product Information of Benzoin (CAS 119-53-9; 579-44-2)
Benzoin, also known as benzophenone, 2-hydroxy-2-phenylacetophenone or 2-hydroxy-1,2-diphenylethanone, is a colorless or white crystal with a similar odor as camphor. The raw material of the wetting agent can also be used as a catalyst for producing polyester. Benzoin is formed by the condensation of two molecules of benzaldehyde in a solution of hot potassium cyanide or sodium cyanide in ethanol via benzoin. Benzoin is a chiral molecule having the opposite image of the (R)-benzoin and (S)-benzoin.
