Physical & Chemical Features:

The pure product is the grey white wax solid, melting point is 74-75℃. It is readily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, diethyl ether, and other polar organic solvents, and slightly soluble in aromatic solvents. When the PH is over 3, it will melt and give out ethylene, and can’t store together with alkali, metal salt and metal.

Uses:

1) Ethephon is a kind of high effect used for agricultural plants growth stimulants. It promote plant organ aging mature,such as for ripening of cottonball , tomatoes turn red.
2) It restrain stem and leaves growth, such as for maize dwarf and lodging resistance, cultivate stocky rice seedling, control lychee tip to promote ear.Increase numbers of female flower of cucumbers and improve output.
3) It break the dormancy and promote seed germination,stimulate rubber run latex, improve production,promote shedding fruit of hawthorn, dates, easy picking fruit.
4) It is also used for wheat male sterility , promote dwarf plant and good plant tape,cuttage rooting and inducing plants roots,promoting pineapple flowering, shorten the growth time of pineapple.

Cautions:

The pure product should be white arras crystal, fish-smelled. It has strong ability in moisture absorption. It’s easy to be dissolved in water and it is stable in medium, which is neutral or acid. It’s one kind of low-poisonous plant growth regulator.
